Four Seasons Costa Rica
ABOUT OUR REVIEWS // We love what we do! We travel often. It’s essential to stay up to date on the hotels we sell. Truth + transparency in travel is our goal, so if we don’t enjoy our stay at a hotel, we won’t write about it. If you’re reading this – the hotel below was a hit!
FIRST IMPRESSIONS // My first impression of Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica started before we reached the hotel. As soon as we turned on to the Papagayo Peninsula, I immediately understood what all the talk was about. While the entire country of Costa Rica is a vibrant canvas, the Papagayo Peninsula is a masterpiece. The manicured landscape of this area of the country is in deep contrast to the wild, rustic beauty of our previous few nights at Santa Teresa. The Papagayo Peninsula is a small, scenic peninsula located on the north Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the province of Guanacaste. This is one of the most well-known areas of the country, home to a luxury residential community and the resort – Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo, which is located on the peninsula’s northwestern tip.
ROOMS // Four Seasons Resort is known for offering luxury accommodations, and our room here did not disappoint. The resort offers a range of spacious accommodations, including rooms, suites, and villas, all of which are spacious and elegantly decorated. The resort is surrounded by lush tropical forests and overlooks a pristine beach, and the rooms are designed to bring the natural beauty indoors. 2023 note – the hotel is slated to close this summer for refurbishment, and I hear the rooms are one item on the list! I can’t wait to see what they improve on.
WHAT TO DO // Four Seasons Costa Rica sits on an isthmus between two beautiful beaches; Playa Blanca and Playa Virador. Playa Blanca is the more active beach – it’s a larger stretch of tan/grey sand on Culebra Bay. Playa Virador is adorned with palm trees and embraced by the serene blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. Playa Blanca, known as the resort’s activities beach is where you’ll enjoy complimentary watersports – snorkeling and kayaking. The Papagayo Peninsula is home to a few other pristine beaches; Playa Nacascolo and Playa Prieta. These beaches are worth a visit too as each one is uniquely different. The location of the Four Seasons Costa Rica provides guests with easy access to two of Costa Rica’s national treasures. The Rincon de la Vieja National Park and the Palo Verde National Park. Both parks make for an excellent day trip if you want to venture off the peninsula. If you want to stay closer to the hotel, the surrounding area is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including monkeys, birds, and other tropical animals, and guests can go on guided tours to see them. Guests can indulge in the resort’s world-class spa, dine at one of the on-site gourmet restaurants, several swimming pools, tennis courts, and a fitness center.
DINING // The Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo has four restaurants: Di Mare, which specializes in seafood and Italian cuisine; Caracol, which serves Latin American-inspired dishes; Pesce, which offers Mediterranean-inspired seafood dishes; and Congo’s Bar & Grill, which features a casual setting and a menu of grilled dishes and snacks. The resort has a variety of bars and lounges, including the Añejo Bar and Cielo Bar, serviced by expert mixologists. The resort also offers beach service from a casual dining menu that has all your vacation favorites. Fish tacos and spicy margaritas on repeat.
In addition to its luxurious accommodations and amenities, the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica is also known for its commitment to sustainability and preserving the local environment. The resort has several initiatives in place to minimize its impact on the surrounding ecosystem, such as recycling programs and the use of renewable energy sources.
