Harbour Village Beach Club – Hotel Review

Harbour Village Bonaire Hotel

Imagine waking up, and less than 60 seconds later, you are in the ocean. Crystal clear, warm, calm water.

You walk from your beachfront suite through a swaying garden of palm trees and pure white sand, passing through a charming wooden gate before stepping into the sea. This is how your days begin at Harbor Village Beach Club and often how they end, too.

After your swim, you dry off, throw on a beach coverup, and wander over to breakfast at the open-air restaurant perched above the water. The entire resort feels unhurried in the best possible way. While the service is polished and attentive, this is not a place where anyone rushes from one activity to the next. Bonaire itself sets the tone. It is an island that invites you to slow down. Enjoy the rest of our Harbour Village Bonaire Review for more details.

First impressions of Harbour Village Beach Club

Built in 1990, the resort has had decades to grow into itself. Because Bonaire sits below the hurricane belt, the landscaping here feels especially mature and lush, with true old-growth tropical foliage that creates a surprising sense of shade and serenity on what is otherwise a desert island. Hammocks swing between towering palms, and even when the hotel is full, finding one available for an afternoon nap rarely seems to be an issue.

The architecture of the resort also lends itself beautifully to privacy. Pathways wind quietly through the gardens, and many of the furnished patios and terraces feel tucked away, despite the spectacular ocean views.

The Rooms & Suites at Harbour Village

Harbour Village Beach Club has just 43 rooms, suites, and residences, which gives the property a boutique feel that is becoming harder and harder to find in the Caribbean.

The beachfront suites are the stars of the show, sitting closest to the sand and water. Marina-view rooms offer a completely different perspective, overlooking the resort’s 60-slip marina where boats drift in and out throughout the day. For families, groups, or guests planning longer stays, the larger residences provide additional living space while still maintaining the relaxed feel of the resort.

This is the type of hotel where people settle in quickly. Shoes come off early in the trip and rarely go back on unless dinner requires them.

Dining at Harbour Village

Dining at Harbour Village Beach Club is less about a flashy culinary scene and more about the atmosphere itself. The open-air restaurant extends over the water, creating a beautiful setting for long relaxed breakfasts, fresh seafood lunches, and sunset dinners with ocean breezes and marina views. Guests consistently praise the fresh catch of the day and the peaceful waterfront setting, but the standout experience is easily the candlelight beach dinner, which feels perfectly in step with the quiet, romantic pace of Bonaire.

While we usually encourage guests to explore Bonaire’s local dining scene, and we mention many of our favorite restaurants under Bonaire Travel Tips & Insider Insight, there are a few experiences at the resort worth planning ahead for.

The candlelight beach dinner is especially memorable and works beautifully for romantic evenings, anniversaries, or even intimate family celebrations. Dining directly on the sand with the sound of the water in the background feels very true to the overall spirit of Harbour Village Beach Club: understated, relaxed, and genuinely special without trying too hard.

What To Do at Harbour Village & Around Bonaire

If getting in the water is your goal, you are in the right place.

The resort is home to a PADI 5 Star IDC Center, making it an excellent choice for both experienced divers and travelers wanting to learn. Bonaire is consistently considered one of the best shore diving destinations in the world, and we can easily structure your vacation around the best dive times and sites.

Watersports at Harbour Village Bonaire

Even if you do not dive, just offshore, you’ll find some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean. The resort actively participates in marine preservation initiatives that help protect the surrounding reef system and foster marine life.

One of our favorite experiences is arranging a private boat day to Klein Bonaire, also known as “Little Bonaire,” the small uninhabited islet just off Bonaire’s west coast. The water here hardly looks real, endless shades of electric blue with exceptional visibility.

Beyond the resort, Bonaire is an incredibly fun island to explore. We highly recommend renting a car or hiring a local guide for at least part of your stay. Pack a swimsuit and a towel because you will inevitably want to stop and jump into the water along the way.

Beach Clubs, Windsurfing & Bonaire’s Slower Pace

One of the things we love most about Bonaire is how easy it is to get out and experience different parts of the island. As you explore the coastline, keep an eye out for the famous yellow rocks scattered around the island. These markers designate Bonaire’s official shore diving and snorkeling entry points and help protect the island’s fragile reef systems while guiding visitors safely into the water.

There are several laid-back beach clubs worth visiting, but our favorite remains Sebastian’s Beach Club on Sorobon Beach. Think lazy afternoons under a communal palapa, chill DJ music, surprisingly good food from a continental-inspired menu, and front-row seats to everyone from beginners to advanced windsurfers gliding across the shallow turquoise water.

If you want to learn, we can arrange windsurfing lessons as well.

WHO IS HARBOUR VILLAGE BEACH CLUB BEST FOR?

Harbour Village Beach Club is best for travelers who want a slower, more relaxing Caribbean vacation centered around the water.

This is not the island for big nightlife or a packed activity schedule. It is for people who genuinely enjoy spending the day snorkeling, diving, reading in a hammock, taking long lunches by the beach, and watching the sunset every evening.

We especially love it for:

  • Couples wanting a laid-back Caribbean escape with understated luxury
  • Divers and snorkelers who want easy access to some of the best underwater experiences in the Caribbean
  • Travelers who appreciate boutique hotels over large chain resorts
  • Families with older children who love nature and being active outdoors
  • Multi-generational trips where everyone can move at their own pace
  • Longer stays and “work from paradise” style trips
  • Travelers who want to explore beyond the resort and experience the island itself

Because Bonaire sits below the hurricane belt, it is also an excellent option during late summer and fall when many other Caribbean islands are in peak storm season.

The overall vibe here feels peaceful, barefoot, and quietly refined. People come to Bonaire to decompress, reconnect with nature, and spend as much time in the water as possible — and Harbour Village Beach Club does an exceptional job creating the perfect setting for exactly that.

FINAL THOUGHTS // Harbour Village Beach Club is not about flashy nightlife, overproduced entertainment, or checking off endless activities from a schedule.

This is a place to slow down. To spend more time in the water than out of it. To watch the sunset every night. To read in a hammock. To snorkel before breakfast and wander barefoot back to your suite afterward.

And honestly, that is exactly what makes it so special.

Cheers,
