Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas – Hotel Review

Four Seasons Los Cabos

ABOUT OUR REVIEWS // We love what we do! We travel often. It’s essential to stay up to date on the hotels we sell. Truth + transparency in travel is our goal, so if we don’t enjoy our stay at a hotel, we won’t write about it. If you’re reading this – the hotel below was a hit!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS // Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos is only about an hour from the Los Cabos Airport, but it’s worlds away from your typical Cabo vacation. From the second we pulled up to this contemporary coastal resort, I was impressed by the endless views of contradicting landscapes. If you’ve spent any time in Arizona or Palm Springs, the desert terrain will be familiar. What’s different is the glistening blue sea in the distance. The resort’s design extends the living spaces beyond the confines of the walls, creating a feeling of being at a much larger property.

Arriving at any Four Seasons includes a custom welcome that is often unique to the property’s location. Being in Mexico, we were greeted with a fresh tropical juice (tequila/mezcal optional) as soon as we set foot in the open-air lobby. After the dusty drive to the East Cape, this fresh cool creation was exactly what we needed.

Our in-room welcome amenity was even more authentic to the area…  mini sweet tamales, mole truffles, mango dusted with chili salt, and dark chocolates with grasshoppers. When in Mexico!

DINING // There are 8 dining options at Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos. This is one resort where I wouldn’t be opposed to ordering the same thing day after day. The food at Four Seasons Los Cabos was such a highlight that I raved about it for weeks after my trip. From our first meal at Casa de Brasa to multiple visits to Milos, I decided this trip was less about trying everything and more about indulging in anything.

The restaurants at Four Seasons Resorts Los Cabos are as visually stimulating as the food is enticing, making each meal a very memorable dining experience.

Limon is the resort’s structure-free restaurant set in a fragrant lemon grove. This is where you go for a truly enchanting evening. See the stars in my photo to the left, above? Multiply those tiny specks of starlight by dozens. The kitchen here is open-air, and if you start your evening at the adjacent bar, you’ll steal behind-the-scene glimpses of the chefs working their magic on the grill with a wide array of local ingredients. With a drink in hand, the hostess will guide you through paths of small pebble gravel to your table, where you’ll be served a bounty of fresh pasta to accompany a selection of grilled or roasted seafood/meat.

Milos is an outpost of an acclaimed collection of restaurants by the popular chef Costas Spiliadis. Milos was my favorite dining experience on the property. I made my way here daily (in between feasting on poolside tacos) to order the Milos Special – lightly fried zucchini and eggplant tower with kefalograviera cheese and tzatziki. This dish was the perfect cocktail hour snack! Highly recommended.

As impressive as I found the outside areas of this resort, the interiors were equally as alluring with their gorgeous, approachable modern designs. We didn’t dine indoors a single time. PRO TIP // Los Cabos can be chilly in the evenings especially in winter so pack a light sweater or jacket if you want to follow our lead and dine out of doors once the sun goes down.

ROOMS// There are 141 rooms at Four Seasons Los Cabos. I stayed in an oceanfront room with a private plunge pool. The rooms at Four Seasons could be described as suites since they start at 680 square feet and are complete with combined sleeping and sitting areas and luxurious bathrooms with walk-in closets. Booking a private pool room at Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos is key. Cabo is a desert, chilly in the evening, and it can be pretty warm during the day. You’ll appreciate having the option to cool off in the privacy of your own space when the sun is in full force overhead.  Contact Us for help selecting the best room for your visit to Four Seasons Resort at Costa Palmas.

WHAT TO DO // The easy choices – ride a bike, soak up the sun on the beach, cool off in the pool. The resort has plenty of bikes, and it is a simple process to reserve one in the front lobby. The staff will tag the bike with your room number, and it is yours for the remainder of your stay. I enjoyed jumping on my bike and cruising the property at sunrise and sunset when the air was cool, and the light illuminated the buildings in different ways at every turn.

Costa Palmas Beach is a swimmable beach – one of only a handful of swimmable beaches in Cabo. Most resorts go over the top with pool design because of the inhospitable beaches. Four Seasons Resort Cabo has the best of both worlds. Incredible pools and a beautiful wide, sandy beach complete with shade, and the cutest bar cart we’ve ever seen.

WELLNESS // Let’s start with dining. There is wellness in every bite at Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos. The Costa Palmas community includes 18 acres of organic farms and orchards – providing truly locally sourced ingredients for all Four Seasons Los Cabos restaurants. Wellness is incorporated into every activity at Four Seasons too. The open-air concept of the entire property encourages activity.

This resort is high on my list of spa + wellness travel destinations. The outdoor living concept of the entire resort continues in the 15,000+ square-foot spa. The quiet, reflective areas and the water therapy circuit are both outside. Seeking a private spa experience? The Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos Spa has two spa suites complete with your own private pool. To top off all the goodness, the spa line is Tata Harper Skincare – a leader in organic skincare regimens.

Who is Four Seasons Los Cabos Best For? Multi-generational family vacations, girlfriend getaways, social groups. This is one of those rare hotels that would be perfect for just about any type of trip  Multi-gen family vacations work well at locations where there is plenty of space and a plethora of outdoor seating for impromptu gatherings and cocktail hours. Four Seasons Los Cabos offers activities for every age group – I haven’t touched on the kid’s club, but no details are ever overlooked at Kids for All Seasons.

This is also a great property for girlfriends’ getaways. My experience in booking vacations for small groups of girls is that two things are always at the top of their lists: excellent food + a great spa. Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos checks both those boxes.

Lastly, this is a great resort for groups. Corporate groups, destination weddings, but I think more so for social groups. Same reasoning as to why it would be a great match for multi-gen families, there is ample space for small groups to spontaneously gather without any pre-planning and without inconveniencing other guests.

My FS Cabo highlight on Instagram has tons more photos and videos.

Four Seasons Los Cabos

It’s not often that I check out of a hotel without any possible client disclaimers written in my notes. But that’s precisely what happened at Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos. I could not think of a single thing I would improve upon or feel the need to give a “heads up” to my clients. The resort was full of positives. Aside from the incredible cuisine, intriguing design, and legendary hospitality, the resort’s vibe was my favorite thing. The sheer size of this property, having only 141 rooms, ensures plenty of space, and space is the number one request for clients seeking a luxury resort vacation. Ready to start planning?
