FIRST IMPRESSIONS // This hotel is iconic—it’s been the go-to destination in the US Virgin Islands for years, welcoming dignitaries from around the world eager to experience “America’s Caribbean.” With that legacy in mind, arriving at its grand entrance felt like stepping into something truly special. The impressive architecture and breathtaking ocean views immediately set the scene, confirming that the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas offers everything you need for an exceptional Caribbean getaway.

ROOMS // From stylish standard rooms to spacious three-bedroom suites, there’s something for everyone here. But don’t be fooled—there’s nothing “standard” about these rooms. Every space is plush and luxurious, even at entry level. Each room features the signature Ritz-Carlton bed (we’ve had clients so impressed that they’ve ordered the mattress for their own homes!) and elegant marble bathrooms, providing the perfect spot to refresh and seamlessly transition from a day of adventure to an evening of relaxation. DINING //  Before we even get to the three outstanding restaurants (and one charming coffee shop), let’s talk about the Club Level. At the Ritz-Carlton, we always recommend clients upgrade to a Club Level room—the added food and beverage perks more than justify the price difference. Think made-to-order omelets and pancakes for breakfast, and an array of small bites available throughout the day. You can easily combine 5-6 of these for a light meal. There’s no shortage of drinks either, from expertly crafted coffees and cocktails to crisp champagne, all served in an elegant, well-cooled space that enhances the experience.

All three restaurants at the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas are exceptional! Enjoy Italian cuisine at Alloro, savor Caribbean flavors right by the beach at Coconut Cove (and don’t skip the carrot cake—it’s hands down the best I’ve ever had!), and indulge in American comfort food at Sails, where the sea breeze enhances every bite. Each dining experience offers something unique and unforgettable.

WHAT TO DO // Get out on the water! The Ritz Carlton St. Thomas is perfectly located on idyllic Great Bay, with calm, crystal-clear waters that make it one of my all-time favorite spots to paddleboard in the entire Caribbean. Beyond paddleboarding, the resort offers kayaks, Hobie Cats, and snorkel gear for endless water fun. And don’t miss the chance to sail on the resort’s gorgeous catamaran, Lady Lynsey II—an experience I highly recommend!

VIBE // The vibe at the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas is that of a timeless, elegant Caribbean resort, offering all the familiar comforts of home. The warm and sunny demeanor of the staff adds to the charm, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at ease.

WELLNESS //  The best part about the Spa at the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas is its stunning location. Situated near the water, you can enjoy an open-air massage with the sea breeze—an experience that feels truly divine. The spa also offers daily fitness classes, including yoga in a dreamy seafront pavilion, Cardio Blast, Water Mai Chi, and refreshing morning property walks. For those seeking more active pursuits, there are also tennis courts available for a lively workout.

Who is the Ritz Carlton St. Thomas best for? This resort truly caters to everyone, but for honeymoons or couples seeking a romantic escape, there are other destinations that might be a better fit. Where this place truly shines is for small groups of friends and families. It’s incredibly kid-friendly, with guests of all ages enjoying the property. It’s also an excellent choice for a multi-generational family trip—bring the grandparents! They’ll absolutely love it.

FINAL THOUGHTS // What I loved most about my stay here was how familiar the resort was. All the familiar perks of a Ritz Carlton vacation with some major island influences. For this trip, that was a perfect combination as I was seeking solace and not keen on much adventuring. The Ritz Carlton St. Thomas is a great to max out on R & R and can be a great base to explore the other islands and cays nearby.
