Le Toiny St Barths
Hotel Review
ABOUT OUR REVIEWS // We love what we do! We travel often. It’s essential to stay up to date on the hotels we sell. Truth + transparency in travel is our goal, so if we don’t enjoy our stay at a hotel, we won’t write about it. If you’re reading this – the hotel below was a hit!
FIRST IMPRESSION // There are some addresses in the Caribbean where you know once you arrive, you can stop making decisions and just sit back and relax. I knew as soon as I checked into Le Toiny St. Barths that this was one of those places. Our needs were anticipated before we could make a single special request. This is due in part to the hotel’s wonderful concierge team, who help fine-tune every client’s itinerary prior to their arrival.
ROOMS // The rooms at Le Toiny are all swoon-worthy private pool suites. The smallest units start at over 1000 square feet: small hotel, big rooms – the best of both worlds. The suites are designed with an emphasis on raw textures and muted earth tones. Exactly the look and feel you want to return to after a busy day enjoying St. Barth’s lively beach club scene.
The uplighting in your suite sets the mood as soon as the sun starts to set. Name a better place to release stress than a giant soaking tub, luxuriously silky bubble bath, and a wide open ocean view. The ultra-chic suites at Le Toiny St. Barths are so complete and comfortable that you might find it difficult to leave and make it to your dinner reservation on time.
WHAT TO DO // St. Barths is one of my favorite islands because the entire island feels like one big resort or cohesive destination. You will more than likely spend most of your days exploring all the incredible shopping, dining, and drinking around the island. However, I’d be remiss not to suggest that you do a couple of things in particular while at Hotel Le Toiny. First on my list, go hike. The hotel covers 42 acres and there are two incredible hikes at your doorstep. St. Barths is a small volcanic island. The landscape is not the expected lush tropical jungle but more of an arid, windswept textured hillside, and it contrasts beautifully with the bright turquoise water below.
Be sure to allocate at least a day for a visit to the Le Toiny Beach Club. Getting to the beach club is easy. Open-air Land Rover Defenders run up and down the hill all day, shuttling smiling guests who opt not to make the 10-15 minute walk. Positioned directly on the sands of Toiny Bay, it provides an excellent vantage point for observing surfers in the bay. While not always the ideal spot for swimming due to its windier location on the island, the beach club has a large, beautiful infinity pool for a refreshing dip. You’ll enjoy the beach club’s perfectly executed menu while relaxing under a giant palapa with your toes in the sand. I still daydream about the delicious gazpacho – so fresh and light, it is perfect for the tropical climate.
While there is plenty of shopping available on St. Barths, Le Toiny’s own “Le Boutique” has an expertly curated collection of resortwear. Conveniently located at the beach club, it’s the best barefoot shopping experience you’ll ever have.
DINING // I already mentioned how incredible the Le Toiny Beach Club is, but that’s not the only dining option… the hotel’s main restaurant is fabulous, too! The open-air main restaurant at Le Toiny is well-regarded for its culinary excellence, featuring a menu highlighting French and Caribbean influences. The chefs at Le Toiny use fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create delectable dishes that showcase the island’s flavors in international dishes.
By night, the sophisticated, relaxed, and romantic atmosphere is complemented by attentive service from Le Toiny’s wait staff. The restaurant at Le Toiny is highly acclaimed and said to be one of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. Most nights, you’ll be entertained by a popular DJ spinning chill lounge music. By day, you’ll enjoy the same high level of service, excellent breakfast dishes served with fresh French pastries, detox juices, and coffee, all while taking in the gorgeous ocean views.
VIBE // The vibe at Hotel Le Toiny is one of exclusive laid-back luxury. It’s a quiet peaceful escape on a buzzing island with just enough happening on property to keep you entertained.
Hotel Le Toiny, in their own words:
” The soul and essence of Le Toiny is space, calm and privacy.“

FINAL THOUGHTS //
While it might be a little complicated to get to this little slice of France in the Caribbean, once you arrive, everything will run smoothly. How so? St. Barths is an island where we’ll help you preplan your vacation for the tradeoff of not having to make any decisions once there.
Hotel Le Toiny is the last privately owned 5-star hotel on the island, and their service and attention to detail are second to none. The location is also a huge plus – we loved hiding away on the aptly named Côte Sauvage after beach-club hopping all day.
You simply can’t go wrong with a stay at Hotel Le Toiny. It is a wonderful choice for a “home base” on this paradisical island in the sun. Let us know when you are ready to start planning.
Cheers,
Laura Sangster
