Hawk's nest at peter island
The largest private island in the BVI, Peter Island is
located four miles south of Tortola and 25-minutes - aboard the
resort's private launch - from its international airport, Beef
Island. 1,200 acres in area, it has a hilly topography laced with
hiking and biking trails, lush vegetation, and five swathes of
soft, white sand lined with coconut trees. Amid this natural beauty
sits a 52-room luxurious resort with every possible amenity and
comfort, including Tradewinds, an award-wining restaurant with
dramatic views. Its complementary sporting facilities range from
a fresh-water swimming pool to four tennis courts and a comprehensive
water-sports center. There are island excursions for exploring
and shopping. The Spa at Peter Island, overlooking Big Reef Bay,
provides extensive treatments and services by a professional staff.
Hawk's Nest has been designed in the Caribbean-villa style with
high roofs and broad expanses of window giving the villa a casual,
light, and airy interior. Continuous balconies also make the most
of the hillside location and its breathtaking views over Deadman's
Bay and the yachts anchored in the harbor 150 feet below. Away
from the sea, the back windows offer a contrasting view, looking
through the woods and along the flank of the mountain. The bedrooms
have a view of the harbor. The villa’s spacious interior
provides everything necessary for luxurious island living, from
its media annex and "inspirational" furniture to its
Kendal-designed dining area and fully appointed kitchen. Leading
off the main living area, three bedroom suites each come with
large bathrooms with separate shower and two person Jacuzzi soaking
tub. And no less attention has been focused on the flowering-garden
outdoor area with its pool and all-day sun. Meals are included
and may be enjoyed in the villa or at the resort's restaurants.
